old tree

My English Poems
old tree

when the last leaf has fallen from me
and the last light of the sun
gently bathes my bare branches with a golden light
don’t cry for me for I have lived the life
that I had chosen
this time

the birds I’ve sheltered for so many years
will move on and the memory with them
of a time when I was strong and proud
and stood against the storm and the rain
they will remember me for what I was
so I’ll live on
forever
